PTA President’s Welcome Letter

Hello Seth Boyden Family!

I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful summer! First, I want to welcome all of the new and returning families to Seth Boyden (SB), and to welcome our new principal, Shannon Glander. I’m very excited about the 2018-2019 school year!  SB is a special place where families, faculty, staff, and community partners are truly committed to creating a learning environment that engages the whole child.

The SB PTA is dedicated to this mission of engagement. We sponsor assemblies and field trips, hold twice-a-year book fairs, help stock classrooms with supplies, honor teachers with luncheons, organize community-building celebrations, and so much more.  Last year, for example, we helped bring to life the Black History Art Gallery, Circus Week, the weekly Garden Recess, and the newly inaugurated Children’s Arboretum.  In the process, we’ve built connections among our exceptionally diverse community of students, teachers, and families, strengthening the whole fabric of our school.

By joining the PTA, you’ll help ensure that the school can continue to provide these programs, events, facilities, and materials to our children and their teachers.  You’ll be helping to give your child, and all children at SB, the best possible educational experience.

Please look over the “Three for Me” flyer, which details a model of PTA participation that draws upon your specific skills and available time.  I hope you’ll then become a PTA member or renew your membership.  A special thanks to all the volunteers from last year for your hard work and dedication – we hope that you found it fulfilling, and that you’ll sign up again this year!

Please feel free to reach out to me at if you have any questions or suggestions.  Thank you in advance for being part of the PTA this year.  Let’s be a model of excellence for our children!
