Seth Boyden is participating in a fundraiser with Brain Quest! They have workbooks, summer workbooks, Q&A decks, and even some “just for fun” activity books. The age range is pre-school through 7th grade.
We are running the fundraiser until Tuesday, June 22.
Please check it out and share it with your family and friends!
Brain Quest is America’s #1 educational bestseller, with more than 50 million copies in print. Curriculum-based but infused with a spirit of fun, it’s loved by kids, trusted by parents, and used and recommended by teachers because it works—and entertains, too.
Each Brain Quest deck is a fast-paced question-and-answer game that challenges kids on the stuff they need to know, when they need to know it. Brain Quest workbooks are jam-packed with curriculum-based activities, exercises, games, and challenges, all in full color. All Brain Quest content aligns with national and state standards and is overseen by a panel of award-winning educators.
Seth Boyden’s PTA has partnered with 1st Day School Supplies to offer pre-packaged school supply kits by grade for the 2020-21 school year! This is a great opportunity to support the PTA and save the hassle of shopping. Plus, you won’t need to stuff backpacks on the first day of school because everything will be waiting for your student in the classroom.
If you have questions, please email Marianne Lloyd at [email protected].
Two notes:
Wish lists are separate from main supply requests, but you can order both.
Once you pick a kit, you’ll enter some information more typical to a checkout. Once you confirm, you’ll have the opportunity to go back and purchase additional kits or donate a kit.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year – the Seth Boyden Book Fair!
The book fair will be held in the upper gym from Monday, Dec. 2, to Thursday, Dec. 5. We will be open during school hours and will reopen for shopping during evening parent-teacher conferences on Wednesday and Thursday. This is a time for adults and accompanied children to browse and shop. Children may not attend alone.
We will once again offer a selection of bargain books starting at $1, with most no more than $3, in addition to our main book fair titles. We encourage adults to send a few dollars with your student on their class shopping days (see below).
We are also looking for volunteers to help students create wish lists and fill orders during the fair, and for a few bakers to provide breakfast items for our teachers to enjoy during the teacher preview on Monday. It’s fine if you can’t commit to an entire slot, just indicate your availability in the comments. Book Fair Volunteers Sign Up Genius
We have one copy of most books and can’t guarantee availability. Please note bargain books must be purchased with cash.
Our auction night is always a blast, and we’re upping the ante with this year’s theme — “Casino Royale.” Please mark Feb. 9 in your calendar and buy your tickets now for our most exciting auction ever!
We are currently looking for donations, sponsors, and volunteers, including bartenders and blackjack dealers. If you are interested in contributing in any way, please fill out the appropriate form or email Rebecca Barbacci and Lauren Byers at [email protected]

We had another great Turkey Trot on Saturday morning! Thank you to all of the enthusiastic runners and walkers who braved the cold and dodged all those snowmelt puddles. A huge thank you also goes out to Alison Poe, who worked so hard to make this such a well-organized, fun, and inclusive event; Kevin Kraft, who played the role of emcee and completed the course on stilts; and the rest of the volunteers and donors who made the event possible.
The winners were Michael Postaski of Maplewood and Seth Boyden’s very own Caryn Gehrke, also of Maplewood!
Did you get the ShopWithScrip Fundraiser flyer in your child’s backpack last week? Ordering gift cards through ShopWithScrip is a great way to do your holiday shopping! It costs no more than the price of the gift card, and Scrip gives Seth Boyden’s PTA a donation from your purchase.
The deadline for orders is Dec. 13. Questions? Email Marlene Chin at [email protected]
Do you buy groceries? Have you ever been in a Stop & Shop? If so, we have a super-easy way for you to contribute to Seth Boyden’s PTA.
Directions for signing up for the A+ Rewards program are below. If you need assistance, call Stop&Shop Customer Care at 877-366-2668, option 1. You can also email Marianne at [email protected] if you have questions or run into a snag.

ShopWithScrip fundraising is a program that allows you to raise money for the Seth Boyden PTA without having to sell anything or buy anything extra. Scrip is just another way to pay for everyday purchases using gift cards in place of cash, checks, and credit cards.
You purchase gift cards from the Seth Boyden PTA at face value, and our school coordinator Marlene Chin will order those cards at a reduced price. The difference is an instant rebate that benefits our PTA.
To sign up, go to shopwithscrip.com and click “Join a Program.” Contact Anna Dunbar at [email protected] for the Seth Boyden enrollment code, or if you have questions about the program.
All district schools are closed for Rosh Hashanah on Monday and Tuesday.
Wednesday Is 4-Hour Day, Back to School Night
We have a 12:45 dismissal on Wednesday, and Back to School Night starts at 6pm. We encourage all parents to come meet our wonderful teachers and find out what’s in store for our students this year!
Ice Cream Social Friday Night
Our Ice Cream Socials are always some of the most fun nights of the year, so you don’t want to miss this event! In addition to ice cream, we’ll have pizza and drinks for sale. The kids have a blast, and it’s a great opportunity for parents to meet each other and socialize. You can also stock up on the latest SB merch and sign up for the PTA.
SOMaGeneralStore.com is a cooperative online marketplace featuring local stores and makers, which can serve as a sort of Amazon alternative: local goods and stores delivered to your door.
It’s a great place to buy gifts, clothes, toys, art, and those end-of-year teacher presents. Just write Seth Boyden in the notes section at checkout, and a percentage of your purchase goes to the PTA!
Many of our auction volunteers are moving on, so we’re looking for some new talent to continue to build on the success of our biggest annual fundraiser.
We are especially interested in parents with event-planning experience and/or an eye for interior decorating. If you’re interested in helping out, please email [email protected]
Our annual Ice Cream Social is Friday night from 6-8pm in the Seth Boyden backyard!
This year we would like to add a few fun activities, and we need your help to pull off another successful event. This is an excellent opportunity to socialize, reminisce and hear some great music.
